Quake done 100% Quick lite 2 is a 33:33 run through Quake on easy skill, getting all kills and finding all secrets on all maps. QdQ proudly presents this run today, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Quake.

Downloads:
A zipfile with the run as a Quake movie (PAK) can be downloaded from this server here.
Or, visit the QdQ website for further download options including AVI.

The run is packed with state of the art speedrunning, and features a normal first person run as well as a fully refilmed movie! It is with pride we give this demo a *MUST DOWNLOAD* mark :) -Mandel

In a tiny news update today at SDA we present probably the best single player record made wile QuakeExpo is running. Late yesterday night Thomas Stubgaard managed to find the right balance between being mad and being mental, and improved the Nightmare 100% on Shub-Niggurath's Pit by 42 seconds to a glistening 0:55. GO WATCH! -Mandel

Something else that we should mention here is that you should record your demos for the contest using the QdQstats progs. All speedrunners know this already, but we're hoping for lots of new recruits for this contest :-)

Something which wasn't mentioned earlier: the one who wins most points in the Shub's Old Pit contest will win a prize, graciously donated by Spirit: this! Who wouldn't want to win a decoration as pretty as that? Get your gear in order, and run like hell. Oh and don't miss the secret exit which you can use for the easy run: it's located in Shub's box, in the top right corner. Just walk around there and you'll find it. But remember, it won't kill Shub if you use it, so it's no good for 100% demos. Thanks to Bengt "AguirRe" Jardrup for helping us fix the map!

Send your demos to -Mandel

I open the booth even though there's not a lot of content yet. Stay tuned for our speedrunning contest which will be launched shortly. -Mandel

QdQ

Quake done Quick is aimed at making longer movies with runs through the entire game (or episode, mission pack, map pack...). It all took off on June 11th 1997, with the release of the original Quake done Quick movie, a 19:49 run through Quake on Nightmare skill.

Last month we marked the 10 year anniversary of the shareware release of Quake, by releasing our run Quake done double Quick lite, a 9:55 2-player co-operative run through Quake on easy skill.

To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Quake, QdQ will release a movie which may well turn out to be the best release in many years. Release is scheduled for July 22nd.

SDA

Speed Demos Archive (or as it would be called nowadays, the Quake section of Speed Demos Archive) is aimed at collecting record runs on single Quake maps. The site had its first update April 12th 1998, and is still being updated regularly. Demos from 4 categories are accepted; runs (pure speed) and 100% (all kills and monsters) on easy and nightmare skills.

Everybody who wants to see if they have some undiscovered speedrunning talents inside them should send some demos for the contest which is being held during QExpo: Shub's Old Pit!
